Former Larne and Portadown striker reunites with old coach while ex-Crusaders defender joins Championship newcomers
Dundela manager Clifford Adams insists it was a “no-brainer” to reunite with Benny Igiehon – and feels the former Portadown striker will “bring another element to our attack”.
Adams previously worked with Igiehon during his time in Niall Currie’s backroom staff at both the Duns and Ports – Igiehon made 12 Premiership appearances across a short stint at Shamrock Park, scoring a dramatic winner in their 4-3 triumph over Newry City in March 2023.
Igiehon has impressed during recent spells in the Premier Intermediate League with Ballymacash Rangers and Lisburn Distillery, scoring 77 goals in the last three seasons across all competitions.
The 32-year-old, who has also spent time on the books of Larne, now returns to the Championship and Adams believes he can make an impact at Wilgar Park.

"Signing Benny was a no-brainer for me,” said Adams on the club’s social media platforms. “We have worked with him before and he is a centre forward with 77 goals in 113 appearances in his last three years which is a great return.
”He had a great relationship with myself and John (McAllister, assistant manager) and knows our standards and what to expect.
"He is a great person around and away from the pitch and will bring another element to our attack."
Meanwhile, Odhran McCart has joined Championship newcomers Moyola Park from Crusaders.
The 21-year-old made 11 Premiership appearances for the Crues last season and has also spent time at Larne, Newry City and Ards.
"We believe Odhran will be an excellent addition to the squad, and he fits the profile of players we are looking for here at the football club,” said Moyola manager Marty Smith. “We are looking forward to welcoming him, and his experience of playing Premiership football will benefit us moving forward.
“Odhran is in the final stages of his rehabilitation from a foot injury sustained last season, so it may be a few weeks before we see him on the pitch. Once he is fully fit, we believe he will prove to be a solid addition.”
Speaking about his move to Mill Meadow, McCart said: “I am delighted to finally get this done after a frustrating end to last season through injury at Crusaders. I can't wait to get back out there and play in front of the fans at Mill Meadow.
“After speaking with Marty, I know the ambitions of the club, and it's something I want to be a part of.”
