Former Linfield and Coleraine star commits to Premiership return in 'massive boost for club'
Limavady United manager Paul Owens admits captain Stephen Lowry committing to another season is “a massive boost for the club” as they prepare for their Premiership return.
Lowry was a driving force behind last term’s Championship title-winning campaign with the 39-year-old’s performances recognised by winning a host of ‘Player of the Year’ awards, including at both NIFL and NIFWA ceremonies.
The midfielder returned to Limavady – where he started his senior career – in 2024 following successful spells at Linfield and Coleraine.
Lowry won a Premiership and Irish Cup double with the Blues and racked up 373 appearances across all competitions for the Bannsiders.

Alongside younger brother Philip, Lowry has provided experience and quality in Limavady’s midfield, setting the platform for recent success.
Lowry has committed to a Premiership return next season by signing a one-year contract extension, meaning he’ll be playing top-flight football aged 40 with his birthday in October, and Owens is clear it’s a major boost for the Roesiders.
"Having our captain commit for another season is a massive boost for the club,” said Owens. “The amount of awards Stevie picked up last year shows how important a role he played in the promotion.
"Stevie's experience, leadership and quality will be a huge asset for us next season and we are delighted he has decided to sign for another year.”
