Former Linfield defender seals Scottish club transfer after Irish League exit

Former Linfield defender Euan East has joined Scottish League One outfit East Kilbride after his departure from Windsor Park.

The 26-year-old made 73 Premiership appearances across his three seasons in Belfast, including 31 during the 2024/25 campaign as the Blues finished 22 points clear at the summit of Northern Ireland’s top-flight.

He also won two BetMcLean Cup crowns with Linfield, playing 120 minutes in last season’s 1-0 extra-time final win over Glentoran.

East was one of 11 senior players who departed Linfield upon the conclusion of last term alongside the likes of Chris McKee, Josh Archer, David Walsh and Charlie Allen.

The versatile defender had spent the entirety of his career in Scotland prior to joining Linfield, enjoying spells at Johnstone Burgh, Queen’s Park, Albion Rovers and Queen of the South after coming through St Mirren’s academy ranks.

East Kilbride have secured consecutive promotions across the past two years – they finished five points clear at the top of League Two last term.

East is set to make his debut in Saturday’s home clash against Hamilton Academical, who signed Andy Ryan from Larne this summer, after his inclusion in the starting line-up.

Confirming East's arrival, the club posted: “East Kilbride FC can announce the signing of defender, Euan East from NIFL Premiership side, Linfield for the season. The 26-year-old received international clearance today, completing his permanent transfer to Kilby.”

East signed a one-year contract extension at Linfield in April 2025 after lifting his first league title.

“Euan has been an excellent addition to the squad since he came in,” said manager David Healy at the time. “His professionalism and consistency have been outstanding.”

East said: “I’ve loved every minute of my time at Linfield so far. It’s a great club with fantastic support.”
