Games hit as Irish League fixtures postponed off Storm Boelo weather warning
Early decisions have been made to postpone Irish League football fixtures this weekend in response to the MET Office’s Storm Boelo weather warning.
Saturday’s showpiece Women’s Challenge Cup final between Glentoran and Cliftonville at the Clearer Twist National Stadium at Windsor Park was scheduled to kick off at 7.30pm.
It marks the final fixture of the domestic women’s football season.
A statement by the Irish Football Association read: “The Irish FA Women’s Challenge Cup Final between Glentoran Women and Cliftonville Ladies, scheduled to take place this Saturday, 24 October, has been postponed due to strong winds forecast as a result of Storm Boelo.

"The decision has been taken in the interests of the safety of players, officials, supporters and everyone involved in the staging of the match, given the forecast adverse weather conditions.
"The final will now take place at the Clearer Twist National Stadium at Windsor Park on Tuesday 27 October at 7.45pm.
"All tickets purchased will remain valid for the rescheduled match.
"The Irish FA thanks both clubs and supporters for their understanding and apologises for any inconvenience caused by the postponement.”
Northern Ireland Football League officials have also confirmed a postponement in the Boyle Sports Championship.
The scheduled game between Institute and Dundela has been “postponed following the local council authority’s announcement that the Brandywell will be closed on Saturday and Sunday due to Storm Boelo”.
Updates will be provided across Saturday morning around any further fixture decisions.
A Met Office weather warning will be in place across Northern Ireland covering 10:00 BST on Saturday until 12:00 GMT on Sunday.
Strong winds of up to 75mph are expected to hit certain parts, with the Met Office issuing an amber warning for the north-east coast and yellow across the rest of the country.
