Ballinamallard and Glentoran have been reported as two names connected to a NIFL statement confirming that “following correspondence from the Irish FA licensing committee last week, we will be in communication with clubs for their observations”.

Glentoran, in response, confirmed to treat any requests with ‘complete transparency’.

“We have had no correspondence from NIFL but if any is received at some point, the club will respond to any questions with complete transparency,” said a Glentoran source.

“We are aware of media reports today regarding the Northern Ireland Football League (NIFL) queries to Ballinamallard United FC (BUFC),” stated the club over an official social media platform. “On Friday our Club NIFL rep indicated that BUFC may be asked for their observations regarding licencing issues, but the Club have not received any request for observations.

“The Club received its Club License last week from the IFA, during the process we were asked for observations on some aspects, which is normal procedure.

“At this stage we have no other information, therefore we cannot make any further comment.”

It is understood that any NIFL requests for ‘observations’ stand in relation to one club in the Danske Bank Premiership and another in the Bluefin Sport Championship.

Irish League football remains suspended due to the coronavirus lockdown.
