Glentoran confirm exit of former League of Ireland winger 'by mutual consent'

Glentoran have confirmed winger Christie Pattisson has been released from his contract “by mutual consent” after 12 months at The Oval.

Pattisson joined from League of Ireland outfit Waterford during the last January transfer window and made 25 appearances for the Glens across all competitions, scoring two goals.

The 28-year-old, who previously enjoyed spells at a number of clubs in England including Maidstone and Welling United, had played only three times in the Premiership for Declan Devine’s side this term.

Pattisson was hit with a mammoth nine-match suspension, which he served at the start of this campaign, after his involvement in a brawl in the Glens’ final league game of last season against Larne at Inver Park.

He was one of a number of players who were hit with hefty punishments – the likes of Dylan Connolly and Aaron Donnelly also received bans.

That meant Pattisson’s first league involvement came during a 3-1 defeat away to Dungannon Swifts in October and his sole Premiership start was on December 30 in a win over Portadown.

With Devine bolstering his attacking options with the arrivals of Ben Gallagher and Ross Clarke this month, Pattisson has now left the club.

"Glentoran Football Club can confirm that winger Christie Pattisson has been released from his contract by mutual consent,” the Glens posted. “The winger made a total of 25 senior appearances for the Glens, scoring two goals during his time in east Belfast.

“Glentoran Football Club would like to thank Christie for his efforts during his time at the Club and wish him well in the next chapter of his career.”
