Glentoran exploring possible permanent summer deal for star after impressive debut Irish League season
Glentoran coach Tim McCann has revealed The Oval outfit are exploring the possibility of turning MJ Kamson-Kamara’s loan deal into a permanent stay this summer following an impressive debut Irish League campaign.
Kamson-Kamara arrived at the Glens on loan from Lincoln City ahead of the current season, and while he initially struggled to break into Declan Devine’s side, the 20-year-old has been one of the club’s top performers in recent months.
The defender has scored in Glentoran’s last two league matches, including a winner against Carrick Rangers on Tuesday, to help maintain a title push – the East Belfast club are only five points adrift of leaders Larne and still hold a match in hand.
Kamson-Kamara signed a long-term professional contract at Lincoln, where he came through the youth ranks, in 2023 and his Irish League form could potentially earn the talented star a chance at his parent club next term.

Lincoln are on track to seal promotion to the Championship, currently sitting second in England’s third-tier, 10 points ahead of third-placed Bolton Wanderers as they battle Cardiff City for the title.
Kamson-Kamara’s performances will also likely have caught the attention of clubs across the United Kingdom, but McCann hopes Glentoran will be able to strike a deal to secure his services on a longer-term basis.
He’ll be a crucial player in the remaining months of this season with Devine’s men taking on Larne in Friday’s Irish Cup quarter-final before their BetMcLean Cup final showdown with ‘Big Two’ rivals Linfield on March 15.
When asked if it’ll be possible to keep Kamson-Kamara beyond his loan deal, McCann told the News Letter: “That would be the plan, yeah.
"You'd be obviously looking to do that...we're looking at his loan and seeing what happens there. I think it's something that the club's probably already looking at.
"He has been fantastic. For such a young guy, 20 years of age, he's playing like a seasoned pro.
“He's been absolutely fantastic. He's great to have around the club.
"He's still very young...he's been brilliant. He's got an old head on young shoulders.”
