Irish League club set meeting to discuss investment proposal which 'could significantly impact future growth'

Glenavon have invited shareholders to a meeting next week in order to discuss a proposed investment opportunity that “could significantly impact the future growth and success of our club”.

A number of Irish League clubs have benefited from investment in recent years – and Glenavon could become the latest if the proposal is given a green light.

Scheduled for 8pm on Wednesday, January 28 in the Bedeck Suite at Mourneview Park, the Lurgan Blues have called a meeting to provide more details and talk further about the opportunity.

The Board of Directors “support this investment proposal”, but the Co Armagh club insist “the final decision lies with the shareholders”.

A statement on the club’s website read: “Glenavon FC Shareholders are invited to attend a Shareholders Meeting of Glenavon Football & Athletic Club Ltd.

"The purpose of this meeting is to discuss and agree upon a proposed investment opportunity that could significantly impact the future growth and success of our club.

"The Officers and Board of Directors support this investment proposal. However, the final decision lies with the shareholders, so your participation is vital as we consider this an important step for the club’s future.

“We look forward to seeing you there and shaping the next chapter of Glenavon FC together.”

When approached for further comment on the proposed investment by the News Letter, Glenavon confirmed the club won’t be making any statements until after the meeting is completed.

The Lurgan Blues, who currently sit 11 points adrift at the bottom of the Premiership table, will be in action on Friday night when they travel to high-flying Coleraine.
