Irish League loan transfer wants quick first taste of Linfield derby life after talks with two modern club greats
Linfield signing Rhys Brennan has revealed hopes to play an instant part in club history after key talks with two modern Blues greats.
The 20-year-old winger has had his season-long loan deal confirmed from League of Ireland outfit Bohemians in the final stages of the summer transfer window.
And Brennan wants to grab a quickfire taste of life in the Irish League by making his debut on Tuesday in a ‘Big Two’ derby date with Linfield rivals Glentoran at the Oval across the Senior Shield.
Although only at the Blues for a number of days, Brennan has wasted little time immersing himself in Linfield history thanks to chats with celebrated former player and general manager Pat Fenlon and current boss David Healy.

“I'm delighted to be here...Pat (Fenlon, current Bohemians director of football) came to me and he mentioned Linfield and obviously he played for Linfield before so when he said that to me I was buzzing,” said Brennan on the official Linfield social media channels. “He said travel down and see how you feel about it...I went to train with the lads and the lads welcomed me in.
"The manager (Healy) was chatting to me on Friday and I was buzzing when he was talking...he was telling me about the club's history.
“It's a massive club, I've watched them in the past.
"I've watched them against Shels (Shelbourne) in Europe, so it was a no-brainer."
Brennan is counting down the chance to line out for Linfield and retains confidence he can step into a derby date for his debut.
“I would be direct, fast, good at dribbling and yeah, that's really it...I just can't wait to play my first game,” said Brennan. “It's a massive derby, it's what you want to play in as a kid.
"Hopefully, tomorrow I’ll play my debut.”
