The Northern Ireland Football League confirmed the postponement of three games in line with its Covid Case Policy.

Ballymena United v Coleraine and Carrick Rangers v Larne (both Saturday 9 January) are now off. In addition Glenavon v Ballymena United (Tuesday 12 January) is also postponed.

It comes after last Saturday’s game between Larne and Ballymena United at Inver Park with participants now required to self-isolate for 10 days following advice from the Public Health Authority.

The Ballymena-Coleraine and Carrick-Larne derbies had already been postponed from their traditional Boxing Day slot, but were put back to January 9 due to Covid restrictions.

Football looks set to continue despite the NI Executive meeting to discuss further measures for the country as Coronavirus cases continue to soar.

The four games originally scheduled for Saturday are set to go ahead with Coleraine now travelling to Carrick Rangers in a rescheduled fixture.

But given the current situation there will be fears that more games could be postponed in the coming weeks.

In England forty positive coronavirus cases were discovered over two rounds of Premier League testing in late December and early January.

It is understood the bulk of the positives relate to the three postponed fixtures over the period involving Manchester City and Fulham.
