Niall McGinn gives his backing to new Dungannon Swifts kits

On Saturday the Dankse Bank Premier ship side launched their new strips for 2020/21 season, with a very special message emblazoned on the front - 'Thank-you NHS and key workers'.

This is the club's way of saying "Thank you" for all the hard work and commitment both NHS staff and all other Key Workers have shown in helping the community through the Covid-19 pandemic.

A percentage of sales from the shirts will go to an NHS charity of the club's choice at the end of the season.

The Swifts were already on to a winner with the striking design from kit suppliers Uhlsport, but the design to proudly display the NHS logo on the front of the playing kits was met by huge praise on social media.

And McGinn gave it his backing as he proudly posed in the new kit as he tweeted: "Where it all began for me... my first Club @DgnSwifts have launched their new kits today for pre-sale. Great gesture to the NHS and Key Workers in my home town Dungannon and beyond!"

Chairman of Dungannon Swifts Football Club, Keith Boyd, said showing their support for the NHS was the least the club could do.

"We have decided to bear the NHS logo on our shirts this season as a way of saying thanks, it's the least we can do for all of the key workers who have played a vital role in helping our community," he said.

Dungannon Swifts have always played a key role in their community and were at the forefront in helping those who were isolating and were at risk during the lockdown.

A statement on the club website said: "Dungannon Swifts FC takes pride in being a Community Club. We are delighted that Dungannon Swifts Charitable Trust was able to contribute over 5,000 meals for the individuals who were isolating and were at risk during the Covid-19 lockdown, in our local community."
