A number of nigh profile sporting events have had to cancel already due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

And with the youth football tournament set to be held from August 2nd to 7th organisers know they will have to make a call soon on the competition which has been going for almost 40 years.

“There are a lot of things up in the air at the moment,” SuperCupNI chairman Victor Leonard told Chronicle Sport.

“We have to take into consideration expert medical advice as well as our concern for the participating teams, some of whom are coming from very far away.

“We have been watching the situation very closely and are constantly monitoring what is happening around the world.

“We will be holding a conference call with stakeholders, including the local council, on April 21 after which I expect we will make an announcement.”
