Club captain O’Hara and defender Oman were unavailable for Wednesday night’s 2-1 win over Ballinamallard United due to concerns over the contract status of both players.

The uncertainty related to the IFA’s ban on Portadown signing players on professional contracts as part of the punishment over recent player payment irregularities.

O’Hara and Oman both agreed new deals to remain at Shamrock Park during the summer.

Last night the IFA informed Portadown they were within their rights to re-sign the experienced duo.

It was confirmed that the ban on professional contracts only relates to players who hadn’t played for the Ports last season.

Oman is currently sidelined with injury, but boss Pat McGibbon is hoping to have O’Hara available for Saturday’s Premiership trip to Ards.
