Schools' Cup finals at Ballymena Showgrounds

The Northern Ireland Schools' Football Association is hosting its annual Schools' Cup Finals Day on Wednesday.

The action, featuring 22 teams, is taking place on various pitches at the Ballymena Showgrounds complex from 11am to 5pm.

Schools from across Northern Ireland will compete for cups and plates, sponsored by team travel specialist Inspiresport, in six age groups.

The first four finals, starting at 11am, will feature Belfast Boys’ Model v St Columb’s College (Londonderry) in the Minor U12 Cup, Omagh High v St Brigid’s (Londonderry) in the Minor U12 Plate, Colaiste Feirste (Belfast) v St Colm’s (Draperstown) in the Small Schools U15 Cup and Corpus Christi (Belfast) v St Patrick’s (Belfast) in the Youth U18 Plate.

At 12.30 Clounagh Junior High (Portadown) will take on Belfast Boys’ Model in the Intermediate U14 Cup, while at 1pm the action will feature Fermanagh’s Devenish College against local rivals Fivemiletown High in the Small Schools U13 Cup, Corpus Christi v Belfast rivals St Patrick’s in the Intermediate U14 Plate and an all-Londonderry clash between St Columb’s and St Joseph’s in the Senior U16 decider.

The final two games of the day will see De La Salle (Belfast) take on Rainey Endowed (Magherafelt) in the Senior U16 Plate at 2.30pm and Ballyclare High face Grosvenor (Belfast) in the Youth U18 Cup final, starting at 3pm.

NISFA Chairman Paul Kerr said: “It is fantastic that we can bring 20 schools together on one day to showcase the talent within schools’ football.”

The Northern Ireland Girls’ Schools’ Cup finals will be played on Thursday at Mill Meadow in Castledawson (11am-2pm). St Louise’s (Belfast) face Parkhall Integrated (Antrim) in the Junior Cup decider and Our Lady and St Patrick’s Knock (Belfast) will take on Holy Cross (Strabane) in the Senior Cup final.
