Ollie Mullen’s men defeated First Choice Soccer 1-0 at Parker Avenue, Portrush but they were made to sweat for a place in the semi-finals.

American side Strikers could only manage a 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough, leaving them and Londonderry on the same goals difference and goals scored.

But Tuesday’s 4-1 win over Colina ensured it was Londonderry who kept their dream on the top prize alive and they now face Sheffield United.

Kian McGarvey bagged the only goal of the game on Wednesday and there were wild celebrations when they discovered they had done enough to qualify for the last four.

“We are delighted and proud of this achievement,” said Londonderry chairman Glen Rankin. “Our best ever finish was fifth overall, so to finish in the top four is unbelievable. The players should be proud.”

Holders Right to Dream, who defeated North Dublin Soccer League 2-0, will face Chivas Guadalajara.

Strikers will now face County Armagh in the Globe semi-final at the Coleraine Showgrounds after they beat Plymouth 3-2.

Ryan Latifi scored the winner in the five-goal thriller. Chris Hutchinson and Alberto Balde, who hit the headlines when he bagged a hat-trick on Tuesday when they defeated Tyrone, were also on target for Dean McCullough’s side at Roe Mill.

County Down drew 1-1 with Southampton but will be delighted with their Globe semi-final against Rangers at Anderson Park after the Scottish side MS Select 3-1.

In the Vase semi-finals, County Tyrone will face County Fermanagh at Broughshane and County Antrim will go head-to-head with Cherry Orchard.

Tyrone beat Alset Columbia 3-2 while Fermanagh were involved in an entertaining game against Swindon Town, with the locals lad coming out on top thanks to a 4-3 victory.

Antrim saw off FC Bayern 3-1 and Club NI defeated County Donegal.

They now face North Dublin SL in the Slaver semi-final at Castlerock while County Donegal take on MS Select at The Warren, Portstewart.
