Warrenpoint Town hoping to discover their Premiership fate

Warrenpoint Town could discover on Thursday night whether they have a chance of playing Premiership football next season.

Last month the Milltown club lost its appeal against an IFA Disciplinary Committee decision not to punish Carrick Rangers over former manager Gary Haveron’s failure to properly serve a touchline ban.

Warrenpoint then pursued sports arbitration, with the hearing to be held on Tuesday – a decision is expected to be released later in the evening.

As the row rumbles on, the Irish FA has granted NIFL an extension to the 2015/16 season, with new dates pencilled in for the Premiership promotion/relegation play-offs.

If Carrick remain unpunished and stay in the Danske Bank Premiership, Ballinamallard United will play Institute in the second leg of their play-off on June 15 at Ferney Park.

If Carrick are punished and end up relegated, then Warrenpoint will play Institute over two legs on June 14 (at Drumahoe) and June 17 (Milltown).

The IFA has stipulated that only the players eligible to participate in the first leg of the play off would be eligible to play in the second leg.
