How much prize money did Rory McIlroy earn in 2025? Event breakdown including record Masters purse
Rory McIlroy rounded out arguably the most special year of his career at the Australian Open this weekend – but just how much prize money did he earn throughout 2025?
The Northern Irishman became only the sixth male player in history to complete a career Grand Slam by ticking off the missing piece of his major collection at the Masters in April, defeating Justin Rose in a dramatic play-off at Augusta.
There was further cause for celebration with McIlroy leading Team Europe to Ryder Cup glory in New York – his sixth competition crown – while he also reigned supreme at the Irish Open, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and PLAYERS Championship.
McIlroy also savoured playing at another home Open Championship at Royal Portrush with the Holywood native undoubtedly the star attraction in what was Northern Ireland’s biggest-ever sporting event.

It’s expected McIlroy will collect yet more silverware later this month – he’s currently odds-on favourite to be named BBC Sports Personality of the Year on December 18.
Reflecting on his year after winning the Irish Open, McIlroy said: "2025 is going to go down as one of the best years of my career, if not the best, and the most memorable for a lot of different reasons.”
He became only the second player to amass more than $100million on the PGA Tour, joining Tiger Woods in an exclusive club and will soon pass his hero for top spot on the prize money list.
McIlroy has previously spoken about being motivated by sporting success over monetary gains, saying ahead of the 2019 Tour Championship: "It should be about the prestige of winning an event that you'll be remembered for.
"I'm not saying that money is a bad thing, it motivates a lot of people, but I think for me and my competitive spirit, I want to win for a lot of different reasons.
"I don't think the money needs to be front and centre, because I don't think that's what the fans care about.
"Players might care about it and we want to be rewarded and paid for what we do, but competitively it's not about that. It's about trying to win golf tournaments."
