Great turnout for Working Hunter demonstration

The College of Agriculture, Food & Rural Enterprise and The Irish Draught Horse Society Ltd of Northern Ireland were delighted with the turnout of over 100 people to the recent Working Hunter Demonstration held at Gransha Equestrian Centre.

The event covered both the ridden and in hand phases of the Working Hunter class with particular emphasis on the upcoming Irish Draught Performance class at Balmoral Show in May.

Four riders on Irish Draught horses gave a demo on the flat and then jumped round a course of Working Hunter fences.

Adrienne Stuart discussed each horse’s performance and talked the audience through preparing their horses, and what to expect on show day.

Alison Kirkpatrick talked about tack and turnout, grooming and how to show horses to their best. The audience then had a chance to participate in a question and and answer session.
