ICE HOCKEY: Belfast Giants fail to see off Cardiff Devils in Challenge Cup semi-final
The Cardiff Devils inflicted a 3-1 defeat on the Belfast Giants to book their place in the final of the Challenge Cup on Tuesday night.
The Devils – holders of the trophy – eased to a second leg win at the SSE Arena – securing an 8-4 aggregate victory in the process.
After a goalless first period Mike Forney gave the Giants hope of overturning the first-leg deficit as he put the home side 1-0 up.
But Leigh Salters levelled for the Devils before Carl Hudson and Joey Haddad added further goals for the visitors to stretch clear.
The win keeps Cardiff on course for a league and cup double.
