Guay brothers are the latest Belfast Giants signings for 2026/7 season
The Belfast Giants have confirmed that Nicolas Guay will be returning for the upcoming 2026/7 season.
And he is to be joined in Belfast by his brother Patrick with the Belfast Giants, who is the latest signing.

Nicolas, from Châteauguay, Quebec, Canada, made an impressive first campaign last season with the Giants, he recorded 64 total points in 74 appearances, and was named Coaches’ Player of the Year.
Belfast Giants' head coach Adam Keefe said: “Nic had a great first season with us, so to be getting him back for another year is a real boost. He’s a versatile player who puts in big shifts on both sides of the puck and he really grew into his role and became an important player for us last year. I don’t doubt that Nic will go from strength to strength this season, so I’m pleased to see him back in teal.”

Before arriving in Belfast, Guay played three seasons in the AHL and ECHL, making more than 180 appearances between 2022 and 2025. Guay’s first taste of European hockey came during the 2024/25 season when he was named an alternate captain of Slovakian side HC Nové Zámky, recording five total points in 11 outings.
Commenting on re-signing for the 2026/27 season, Nicolas Guay said: “I'm extremely happy to be coming back to Belfast. As soon as I stepped on home ice, I knew hockey in Belfast was something special, and I can't wait to win more games and lift more trophies with the Giants.”
Joining Nicolas in Belfast for the 2026/7 season will be his younger brother Patrick.
He joins the Giants from Västerås IK of the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan, where he contributed 21 total points in 45 games.
Selected 145th overall in round five of the 2022 NHL draft by the Las Vegas Golden Knights, Guay arrives in Belfast with significant AHL and ECHL experience, having made more than 170 appearances for the Henderson Silver Knights, Savannah Ghost Pirates, and Maine Mariners between 2022 and 2025.
Before turning professional ahead of the 2022/23 season, Patrick had a successful QMJHL career, representing Sherbrooke Phoenix and Charlottetown Islanders between 2018 and 2022. Across four seasons, Guay notched an impressive 245 points in just 238 games, including a standout 2021/22 campaign, during which he tallied 132 points in just 83 outings.
Commenting on joining the Belfast Giants, Patrick Guay said: “I am super excited to join a winning organisation. Everything I’ve heard is extremely positive and I think the Giants will be a great fit for me. I look forward to bringing more championships to Belfast and playing in front of a great fanbase.”
Giants’ head coach Adam Keefe says that he’s excited to be bringing Patrick to Belfst.
He said: “Patrick has come highly recommended and is someone we’re very excited to bring in next season.
“Already, Patrick has picked up invaluable experience across some respected teams and leagues, so I think he’ll be the perfect fit for us.
“It’s always special to play on the same team as a family member, so I’m excited to see what Patrick and Nic [Guay] can do together next season.”
