Speaking to the News Letter early this week he said that making sure the Giants stay consistently in the win column will be crucial to keep the Giants’ season on the right track.

Last weekend's four points were massive for the Giants’ and morale. Will explained: “It was a good weekend. It felt like we were back to playing our brand of hockey again.

“It was fun to get those two wins on the road, it just felt so good to get back in the win column.”

The wins will be a boost going into the busy Giants' Christmas schedule.

“It was so important to get those wins under our belt ahead of the Christmas games. We will hopefully be winning a lot more games in the second half.”

The next 15 or so week’s are going to be very interesting. Will remarked: “We have got some catch-up to do in the campaign for sure. But I think it will be an exciting second half of the season, not only for the players but also for the fans too.”

Looking back at last week’s games, the first leg of the Challenge Cup quarter final against the Nottingham Panthers was a tight clash with two sides eager to get the jump to their season.

Panthers’ coach Corey Neilson admitted that he did believe that the better team on the night had lost.

Cullen said: “We felt like we could have at least come away with a draw in that game if not indeed the win itself.

“It was disappointing we did play a good game and to walk away a deficit is not ideal.

“Come January we will be looking to stamp our authority on the game right from the start and ensure that we progress to the semis of the cup."

The Giants also travelled to Manchester and exacted some retribution on the Storm in their barn.

It was another superb game from Cullen who bagged a pair of goals.

He said: “It is definitely good for my confidence. The beginning of the season the offense was really going my way but it has definitely improve as of late. Hopefully it will continue to come and I will be able to contribute more goals and we as a team keep winning games.”
