Armoy Road Races: Paul Jordan sets unofficial Supertwin lap record on Aprilia in qualifying to lead times from Mike Browne and Michael Sweeney

Paul Jordan dipped under his year-old Supertwin lap record at the Bayview Hotel Armoy Road Races on Friday as the Northern Ireland rider topped the time sheets in Supertwin qualifying.

Jordan won both Supertwin races in 2025 and set a new lap record of 100.694mph (1m 47.542mph) around the three-mile course.

The Magherafelt unofficially bettered that mark with a time of 1m 47.328s for pole on the Jackson Racing by Prosper2 Aprilia.

Mike Browne, who is riding the Melbray/Laycock Racing Paton, was second fastest, 1.188s down on Jordan, with Michael Sweeney (MSR Aprilia) joining them on the front row.

Newcomer Richard Cooper continued to make good progress as he adapts to the Co Antrim course and was fourth fastest on the Jack Reid Car Sales KMR Kawasaki, 0.123s behind Sweeney.

Joey Thompson, Manx rider Joe Yeardsley, Dominic Herbertson and Kevin Lavery were the first eight.

The first Supertwin race is scheduled to run on Friday evening after qualifying.
