Carl Phillips smashes lap record at Kirkistown again and extends unbeaten Ulster Superbike streak to seven wins
Carl Phillips stretched his lead in the Ulster Superbike Championship with a seventh win in a row and another lap record at Kirkistown in Co Down on Saturday.
Reigning champion Phillips won the first USBK race at the Norman Brown Memorial Trophy meeting by 4.711s from Ryan Gibson (Gibson Motors/Firewood Supplies BMW), with Luke Jones clinching his first podium in the series on the SBT Racing Ducati.

Phillips smashed Alastair Seeley’s 2022 lap record at Kirkistown in April before setting a new benchmark earlier this month at 100.422mph.
Riding the Bell Bikesport/B&W Racing BMW, the Lisburn man went even quicker around the 1.5-mile course on Saturday, setting a new outright lap record of 100.705mph (54.051s).
Aaron Spence (Honda), Alan Kenny (Honda) and Mark Hewitt (BMW) were the top six in the opening race, which was red-flagged after the chequered flag went out.
Jonny Campbell was a non-finisher, along with Ross Irwin, Mark Conlin and Jamie Lyons.
In the opening Supersport race, Korie McGreevy was a comfortable winner on the McAdoo Racing Kawasaki by 8.230s from Christian Elkin (Bell Bikesport/B&W Racing Ducati), with Adam Brown third on his Yamaha.
Elkin doubled up in the Supertwin races on the RB Engineering/Bell Bikesport B&W Aprilia, twice beating Kyle Cross (TH Racing Aprilia).
Moto4 British Cup contender Jack Burrows dominated the first Moto3 race on the Burrows Engineering/RK Racing Honda, winning by half-a-minute from Alfie Flynn.
Burrows took the opportunity to race at Kirkistown this weekend with no Moto4 British Cup race at the BSB round at Knockhill in Scotland.
