Cookstown 100 club directors 'proud' of 'first-of-its-kind' initiative announced for 2026 road race at Orritor course
Competitors planning to race at the 2026 Cookstown 100 can avail of an early Christmas present with free and discounted entries on offer for the famous old race, which takes place from April 24-25.
The generous gesture by the directors of Cookstown & District Motorcycle Club is being made as “an acknowledgement of those competing at the Cookstown event, who, year after year, continue to give their all for the fans while facing rising costs in pursuit of the sport they love”.
A club statement said: “Christmas is a season of giving, and the Directors of Cookstown & District Motor Cycle Club (MCC) are proud to announce it has a special gift for competitors ahead of next year's Cookstown 100 road races.
“The Cookstown club has pledged that in 2026, loyal competitors who have raced with us over the past three years will receive free entries, while others will enjoy reduced fees.

“This one-off initiative represents a first-of-its-kind commitment to easing the burden on competitors at Cookstown, ensuring they are supported as generously as they support our event.
“As the longest-running national road racing organisation - second only to the Isle of Man TT - the Cookstown MCC has built a legacy of resilience and innovation in motorsport.
“From the early days, when race legends such as Mike Hailwood, Philip McCallen, Robert Dunlop, and Michael Dunlop each scored their first road race wins at Cookstown, to pioneering initiatives like the Man of the Meeting award in 1974 (£100); the first club to allow Robert Dunlop to return to racing following his 1994 IOM TT crash, and hosting the only road race worldwide during the 2020 pandemic, the Cookstown club has consistently sought ways to support riders and the sport.”
Full details of the initiative are available on the Cookstown 100 website at www.cookstown100.org
Meanwhile, race packages for the 2026 race are available, with full details on how to order on the event’s website.
The Cookstown 100 at the 2.1-mile Orritor course in Co Tyrone will be the opening Irish national road race in 2026 followed by the North West 200 (May 6-9), Tandragee 100 (June 26-27), Armoy (July 24-25) and the returning Mid Antrim 150 at Clough (July 31-August 1).
