Cookstown 100: Paul Jordan blitzes lap record for Supersport victory on new Jackson Racing Ducati

Paul Jordan smashed the Supersport lap record in the sunshine at Saturday’s Cookstown 100 to make a winning debut on his Jackson Racing Ducati.

Jordan claimed pole for the race and unofficially dipped under Adam McLean’s 2021 lap record in the Open qualifying session on Friday to throw down the gauntlet.

The Magherafelt man shot into the lead and had pulled a slight advantage over Darryl Tweed in second the Stanley Stewart Racing by NovoGen Triumph 765.

Jordan, with a clear road ahead, began to turn the screw as he set a blistering pace out front on the Italian V2.

He put daylight between himself and Ballymoney man Tweed, who was working hard to keep Michael Sweeney (EM Building Yamaha) at bay.

Jordan raised the Supersport lap record to 90.078mph (1m 23.927s) on the fifth of nine laps, with McLean’s previous benchmark set on the McAdoo Kawasaki five years ago standing at 89.529mph.

Jordan closed out victory by 10.494s on his first appearance at the event since 2022.

Tweed was able to break away from Sweeney and was around 6.5s ahead of the Republic of Ireland rider at the finish.

Kevin Keyes was fourth on the Daracore Racing Yamaha R6, a few seconds ahead of Manx rider Marcus Simpson (Triumph).

Sean Brolly completed the top six on his Ducati Panigale V2 ahead of Austrian Julian Trummer (Triumph) and Joe Loughlin (Parker Car Transport Yamaha R6).
