The series was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic after pre-season testing in March and will be held over just two rounds, with four races at each instead of three.

On Saturday, reigning champion Ryan won the opening race by 2.3s from Sheils, who was coming into the event fresh from victories at Kirkistown and the Cookstown 100, where he won the sole Superbike race on his new Roadhouse Macau BMW. Luke Johnston completed the top three.

Kilkenny man Ryan completed his double in race two but this time he was hounded by Sheils, who was only 0.130s behind at the finish. Johnston again secured the final podium position.

However, Sheils turned the tables on Ryan on Sunday as he won race three by three tenths of a second, with Johnston six seconds back in third spot.

Sheils then wrapped up a double of his own in fine style, winning the fourth and final Dunlop Masters Superbike race of the weekend by over two seconds from Ryan, with the consistent Johnston again the best of the rest in third.

Cork’s Mike Browne was in dominant form in the Supersport races as he chalked up a four-timer.

Browne, who made his roads debut for new team Burrows Engineering/RK Racing at the Cookstown 100, was riding his own 600cc machine at Mondello Park.

He beat fellow roads ace Michael Sweeney in race one on Saturday, while Andrew Murphy took the runner-up spot on three occasions afterwards.
