‘Everything fell into place’ as Seaforde's Nathan Green adds to Ulster lead with clean sweep

Seaforde’s Nathan Green extended his lead in the MRA/Grant Commercials MX1 Championship with a perfect day over round three of the Ulster Open MX Championship at Tandragee MX Park.

The 23-year-old was fastest in qualifying before claiming three wins from three starts on the GOMX Yamaha.

Waringstown’s Niall Cregan took the holeshot in race one on his Kawasaki and led the early laps before Green made his move on lap three. By the chequered flag, he was more than 15 seconds clear of Cregan, who was still racing with an injured hand sustained earlier in the season. James Mackrel completed the top three on the Stark machine despite riding with a broken thumb.

Race two saw Cregan and Green tangle at Turn 1, leaving MX2 rider Ryan Adair leading on the opening lap. Green recovered to take over at the front on lap two and finished well clear of Cregan, with Hillsborough’s Alex Henderson taking third. Again, it was Cregan who got the holeshot in the sprint race and led early on before the Yamaha rider caught and passed him to complete his treble.

“Tandragee wouldn’t be my strongest track, but I felt good after qualifying and I knew I had the pace,” said Green. “Everything fell into place as the day progressed.”

In the MX2 class, Gabriels Golturenko, Ryan Adair and David Anderson each secured a race win - but it was Adair who claimed the overall. Richard Cleary lifted two wins and a second-place finish behind Stephen Bailie in race one to secure the overall in the Straid Contracts/Clougher Valley Windows Semi-Expert MX1 class, while Newtownards teenager Tom Bishop was unstoppable in the Semi-Expert MX2 class with three wins.

Two wins and a third place proved enough to put Andrew Keys on the top step of the Robinson Concrete Clubman MX1 podium, while Ned McFarland claimed the Stephen Russell Moto-X MX2 honours with two wins and a second-place finish.

Lisburn’s Emma Wray returned to America - where she finished as runner-up in the 2025 AMA Women’s Quadcross Championship - to race in a round of the WMX at Sun Set Ridge. After a strong qualifying, Wray went on to claim both hole shots and two comfortable victories before taking on the challenge of her first Men’s ‘A’ race. She finished third in the first Moto and was lying second with two laps to go in the second Moto when the bike stopped going over a jump.

“I didn’t have high expectations for the Pro Sport races, but I surprised myself,” said Wray. “I didn’t have a good gate pick, as I’m not a regular in the championship, but I got away in fifth, quickly moved into third and pushed hard to the finish. I was on for second overall when the bike stopped two laps from the finish in race two...that’s motorsport and it’s never smooth sailing. I was very happy with my riding, and now I’m looking forward to the Ulster Championship at home on June 13th.”

Ballyclare’s Samuel Logan returned to Mildenhall MX Track in Suffolk, for the MX Kids Masters Championship - a track where his cross-channel motocross career began back in 2019 in the 65 class - and claimed a podium, this time in the Rookies 250 class.

At the same meeting, fellow local rider Hayden Gibson finished third in the 125 class.

“I always said if the venue ever came back on the calendar, I would be back, and I’m glad I did, as I finished third overall in the 250 Rookies,” Logan said.
