Five-round Masters Superbike Championship confirmed at Mondello Park in 2026 as motorcycle racing resumes in Republic of Ireland

The Masters Superbike Championship will return in 2026 at Mondello Park in Co Kildare as motorcycling in the Republic of Ireland resumes next year.

No two-wheel sport took place in 2025 due to crippling insurance costs but short circuit racing, enduro and trials events are making a comeback in the new year, while road racing is also set to return for the first time since 2022.

The dates for the 2026 Masters Superbike Championship have now been confirmed and announced by the sport’s governing body in the south, Motorcycling Ireland.

In 2024, Edenderry’s Kevin Keyes clinched a championship double, winning the Superbike and Supersport titles at Mondello.

A pre-season test will be held on the national track at Mondello on Friday, March 13 followed by a further test on Friday, March 27 on the international circuit.

The opening round of the championship is scheduled to take place from April 11-12 with the final event on the five-round calendar taking place from August 15-16.

Karl Brady, Motorcycling Ireland PRO, said the absence of motorcycle sport this year in the Republic had been a “disaster” but has hailed the interest from prospective newcomers following news that motorcycle racing was set to return next year.

“Mondello Park is running five (short circuit) rounds and they’re doing their rider assessment at the end of January and early February for all newcomers,” he said.

“We’ve had so many newcomers who contacted Motorcycling Ireland via the website and through the Facebook platform enquiring about it, and it’s good to see the hunger that is there for the short circuits because that also evolves into the road racing as well.

“So, it’s all thumbs up.”
