Coates went head to head with Ryan Rainey last Saturday at Kirkistown and won the first race by only 0.6 seconds from the IFS Yamaha rider, with Cody Nally finishing on the podium in third.

Coates again had the upper hand in race two, but this time he won by only 0.4 seconds as the pair engaged in a battle once again and Rainey will be hoping to turn the tables on Saturday.

Coates, Rainey and Nally plus Gerard Kinghan and Robert English on the second of the IFS Yamaha machines spearhead the line-up for the two Irish Superbike races.

In the Supersport class, Coates was also to the fore at Kirkistown, where he won the first race when the red flags came out after Jason Lynn crashed on the final lap.

He took the win from Christian Elkin, with Korie McGreevy three seconds back.

Elkin won race two from Coates and McGreevy, with the trio separated by less than half-a-second at the line and Saturday’s races are set to be held in a similar vein.

Practice is set to take place in the morning from 9am sharp, with the first race due off around 12 noon.

Admission is £10, including race programme.
