Jonathan Rea quickest on day one of World Superbike test at Motorland Aragon
The Kawasaki rider, who took over the title lead from Ducati’s Scott Redding following an emphatic hat-trick at Portimao in Portugal last weekend, led the way by 0.375s from Team HRC rider Leon Haslam.
Jerez double winner Redding was less than a tenth of a second further back in third place on the Panigale V4R.

Hide AdThe test, which concludes on Friday, is hugely important to the riders and teams, with Aragon set to host the next two World Superbike rounds on successive weekends, beginning from August 28-31.
Speaking prior to the test, Rea said: “I’ve been on the podium in Aragon almost every year I’ve been there now and it’s a great circuit.
“I think it will play to the strengths of our bike but of course the long back straight is going to play in favour of some other machines, but we can maximise our performance and see where we are.
“The good thing is, it looks like at the end of a race we still have plenty of rear tyre and that will be important to fight on the last laps in both rounds.”
