Keith Farmer wins British Superstock race at Knockhill

Hot title favourite Mackenzie had crossed the line in first place on the Buildbase BMW, but was later demoted to fourth in the amended results.

The young prospect received the penalty for ‘overtaking under waved yellow flags and an unsafe manoeuvre at the Hairpin’. The incident in question was a coming together with Tyco BMW’s Josh Elliott as they disputed the lead of the race on lap seven, witth Elliott running into the gravel.

The decision promoted Farmer to first place on the Quay Garage Honda, who held off Tyco BMW’s Ian Hutchinson by a tenth-of-a-second for the win.

Michael Rutter filled the top three on the Bathams SMT BMW ahead of Mackenzie. Reigning champion Elliott finished in seventh place.

Mackenzie now leads Farmer by 35 points in the championship standings, with Ballinamallard rider Elliott only a point further behind in third place.

Meanwhile, Carl Phillips clinched his second victory of the season to extend his lead at the top of the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship.

The Lisburn rider, who won for the first time at British level at Brands Hatch in May, narrowly held off Lewis Rollo in the damp conditions to seal his win by only 0.294 seconds.

Phillips has now extended his advantage at the top of the standings on the Sandown Kawasaki to 38 points over Bradley Jones, who finished fourth at the Fife circuit.

Irish championship regular Korie McGreevy finished a fine tenth on the IMR Triumph.
