Mark McLernon earns battling fourth place at Quadcross World Championships in Estonia
Hillsborough’s Mark McLernon finished a fighting fourth overall in the latest round of the Quadcross World Championships at the Karski Nuia circuit in Estonia.
McLernon qualified third fastest behind Manfred Zienecker and new championship leader Kevin Saar after Italian Patrick Turini crashed in qualifying, breaking an arm.

McLernon went on to finish fourth in race one, but the standout performance came in race two, when he carved his way from dead last on the opening lap to fourth by the chequered flag.
“I battled with the leaders in race one before Saar passed me,” McLernon said. “I knew there was a good gap to fifth, so I just brought it home.
"I got a great start in race two, but another rider ran into me and my bike stalled, leaving me a lot of work to do to eventually finish fourth.
"A big thanks to Justin Reid, who was a massive help over the weekend.”
McLernon is now only seven points behind Harry Walker for fourth in the championship standings as the series heads to Latvia in July.
Meanwhile, Emma Wray was the star of the show at round three of the Ulster Quad Championship at Tandragee.
The Lisburn rider ended the day at the fast Co Armagh track with three wins and the lead in both the Ulster and Irish Championships.
The opening Premier Quad race turned into a great battle between pole-setter Davy Cowan and Wray.
Wray set a hot pace at the front, leading Travis Toye, Mitchell Adams and Kyle Murphy on the opening lap of ten, with the Banbridge man fifth after a poor start.
By lap four, Cowan had worked his way through to second and, with the fastest laps of the race, was hunting down the leader.
With three to go, the experienced Cowan was within a second of the leader and, on the next lap, was in her wheel-tracks.
By the chequered flag, however, Wray had got her head down, stretching the gap to over three seconds, with Cowan second and Murphy third. Wray had more comfortable wins in races two and three, taking the overall from Cowan and Murphy.
“That was a brilliant day’s racing,” smiled Wray after claiming the overall in the Premier Quad class.
“I got an ok start in race one and made a couple of passes to get into first and led to the flag. I got a great jump out of the gate in race two and was on for the hole shot, but a rider hit me hard from the inside, which I managed to save.
"I got past Travis Toye on lap two and held a strong lead to the finish. Finally, I got the hole shot in race three and led from start to finish.
"My next challenge is rounds three and four of the British Championship before going back to the USA for another round of the AMA Nations.”
Kyle Orr was the overall winner in the Semi Experts, while Adam Wilson dominated the Clubman class with three convincing victories.
Eden McAneney was the Y1 winner ahead of Thomas Biggerstaff.
In the Y2 class, John Joe Malone came from dead last in race one after stalling at turn 1, then went on to win by nearly three seconds from Grace McClintock. The Banbridge rider secured the overall with two more wins.
Joe McVey was unbeaten in the Y3 class, while in the sidecar class, Jonny Wilson and Andrew Rowan wrapped up the overall with three victories.
Local riders were in action at Monster Mountain for round five of the Motul MXGP. Glenn McCormick secured tenth overall in MX2, while Jason Meara was 13th in MX1 and Alfie Herron 12th in the 125 class.
