Mid Antrim 150 Club cancels two-day Neil and Donny Robinson short circuit meeting due to rising Covid-19 cases

The Mid Antrim 150 Club has cancelled its two-day short circuit meeting at Bishopscourt in Co Down in response to the rise in coronavirus cases in Northern Ireland.

The Neil and Donny Robinson Memorial meeting had been due to take place from October 3-4 after the event was originally postponed from July 18-19.

A statement from the club said: “It is with regret the Mid Antrim 150 Club has to announce the cancellation of our 2 day short circuit event at Bishopscourt Racing Circuit for Neil and Donny Robinson memorial races.

“Due to rising cases of Covid-19 virus, circuit availability [and] circumstances out of our control, we have run out time to organise this event. The health and safety of the community and all involved must come first. We hope see u all fit and well in 2021.”

No Irish short circuit or road races have taken place so far this year, although the Belfast and District Club plans to run a short circuit meeting at Kirkistown in Co Down on Saturday, September 5.

The following weekend, the Cookstown 100 – postponed from April – is set to take place in Co Tyrone.

October's Irish short circuit racing showpiece, the Sunflower Trophy meeting, was cancelled in May.
