The rider involved was reported to be conscious and was being assessed by medics before he was due to be taken to Noble’s Hospital.

It was hoped to rerun the session for Supertwin/Sportbike machines at the Billown course before roads were due to open by 21:40 BST.

However, the session did not go ahead, with the Classic Sidecars completing a qualifying session instead.

An update from the organisers said: “Due to our road closure order and the restricted time left available, the Classic Sidecar Qualifying Session will be the final Qualifying Session of the evening.”

Northern Ireland’s Paul Jordan topped the times in Tuesday’s earlier Lightweight session on the Jackson Racing Aprilia RS660 from Rob Hodson (SMT Racing Paton).

Earlier, Dean Harrison secured pole in the Superbike class from Nathan Harrison and Michael Dunlop, while Jordan led the Supersport times from Mike Browne.

Racing is scheduled to commence on Wednesday morning with the opening Senior race for Superbikes at 10:20 BST in a change to the format for 2026.

A further Classic Sidecar qualifying session is currently due to run after the Senior race.

Roads will then open around the Billown course before closing at 18:00 BST for a five-race evening programme.

On Thursday, 10 races are scheduled on the final day of the 2026 Southern 100 across the morning and evening, including the blue riband Solo Championship race, when Harrison is the favourite on his Honda Racing Fireblade.
