Updated Irish road racing calendar for 2026 after sport returns in Republic of Ireland for first time since 2022
The calendar for the 2026 Irish road racing season has been bolstered by the addition of three races in the Republic of Ireland as the sport makes a return in the south for the first time since 2022.
The Skerries 100, Kells and Athea meetings are set to go ahead after road racing’s governing body in the Republic, Motorcycling Ireland, obtained insurance cover for all disciplines of motorcycling in 2026.
Last year, no road races, short circuit, trials or motocross meetings were held, but a full calendar across all disciplines is in place this year.
The three races in the Republic combined with four in Northern Ireland will see at least seven national road races this season, alongside the North West 200.

The Cookstown 100 will host the opening race between the hedges around the 2.1-mile Orritor course in April before the North West 200 takes centre stage, with race week running from May 4-9.
After the Isle of Man TT, the Tandragee 100 will be the main focus for Irish road racing’s regulars, with the event retaining its June date after making a successful return in 2025 following a three-year absence.
Skerries in Co Dublin is pencilled in for July 4-5 while the Armoy ‘Race of Legends’ will be held from July 24-25.
The returning Mid Antrim 150 in Clough takes place from July 31 to August 1 as the race makes a welcome return for the first time since 2022.
The South West Road Races at Athea in Co Limerick are likely to be the final Irish road race of the year from September 12-13, while the Kells club is yet to confirm its dates for the Co Meath event.
In 2027, it is hoped the Ulster Grand Prix will further enhance the calendar, with a fresh effort underway to revive the race at the historic Dundrod course, where it was last held in 2019.
