Jonathan Rea says he will switch his Kawasaki ZX-10R back to a more familiar setting ahead of Saturday's final practice and Superpole qualifying after running sixth fastest at Motorland Aragon in Spain on Friday.

The reigning World Superbike champion tried some new chassis set-ups but stated afterwards that he wasn’t yet totally comfortable with his final setting as Saturday’s opening race (1pm) looms large.

“We have not quite got the final setting nailed yet and we tried some different things today in each session. To make improvements to the set-up of the new bike we have to try new things sometimes,” said Rea, who was seven tenths off team-mate Tom Sykes’ fastest lap.

“Tomorrow we will change the bike to a setting we know works and I will get into the rhythm of the bike in the final practice session.”

Sykes topped the times by 0.375 seconds from Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Ducati).

Meanwhile, Eugene Laverty from Toomebridge was 12th fastest in FP2 on the Aspar Ducati ahead of the second round of the MotoGP World Championship in Argentina on Sunday.

Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez was fastest by 0.025 seconds from team-mate Dani Pedrosa, while world champion Jorge Lorenzo struggled in 14th place on the Movistar Yamaha at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit.
