Adam Carroll, who just last week announced that he would be racing in the Le Mans 24 Hour race later this year, has his sights set firmly on a drive in the high profile Formula E series.

The Portadown driver narrowly missed out on a chance to make his race debut in Formula E in Buenos Aires. He was at the Argentine track in case Nick Heidfeld was unable to drive.

Carroll sees the Formula E series as a proper world championship and is very keen to be a part of it.

Last year he tested with the Mahindra Team but instead the drive went to the nephew of the legendary Ayrton Senna, Bruno Senna.

“I was that close to a top drive but in the end it just did not come together,” said Carroll, who has raced and won in GP2 and is a former A1 Grand Prix Champion.

He has also been in close contact with the DS Virgin Racing Team and is very much in the frame should for any reason Jean-Eric Vergne not be able to race.

Since winning the A1 Grand Prix Championship Carroll has concentrated on endurance racing in the Blancpain series, the European Le Mans series and British GTs.

However, in the meantime he has a pretty full season ahead with competing in the World Endurance Championship but his target remains a drive in Formula E.
