MOTORSPORT: Colin Turkington fired up for Thruxton challenge

After a three-week break the British Touring Car Championship heads to Thruxton, one of the fastest circuits in the UK and a set of new challenges for Colin Turkington and team-mates and the new Subaru Levorg.

Last time out at Donington Park, Turkington qualified just outside the top ten, going on to score the first top ten position for Team BMR.

Yet again it was Turkington that showed the potential of the new Subaru Levorg and although it was a far cry from his pole position and win from last year, the development of the new Levorg is slowly taking shape.

Thruxton suits cars with straight line speed and the Subarus are down as much as 9mph, so the advantage is very much with the opposition.

However, Turkington remains confident that given time the Levorg can become a race winner.

“Even when we are entering into a complete unknown with the Subaru I still expect the best from myself and I will continue to push hard to achieve the maximum result out of any situation we find ourselves in,” he said.

“Currently our progress can not be measured in podiums, but we are going in the right direction and I’m enjoying the new challenge.”

Meanwhile, Carrick’s Chris Smiley recorded a P17 finish in his Team Hard Toyota and is looking forward to this weekend.
