'Superchin' is the only player not to register a point in this season’s renewal after losing 7-1 to five time Premier League champion Michael van Gerwen.

The writing was on the wall as early as the first leg for Gurney, MVG hit a 140 and a 177 before taking the leg on D14 for a break of throw.

Gurney threatened to break straight back hitting two 140s and a 122, but he had double trouble missing two darts at D8 and one at D4 that opened the door for the three time world champion and he took out a 104 check out on D16.

Van Gerwen missed the bull for a 170 finish in leg three but had plenty of time and broke the Gurney throw again with a D16.

Gurney hit his only maximum in leg four but MVG took out D18 for a 4-0 lead.

The Dutchman hit three ton plus scores in leg five but it took him five attempts to hit D16 to clinch it.

MVG piled on the pressure with a 180 in the next leg and checked out 72 on D12 for a 6-0 leg.

Gurney hit for ton plus scores to van Gerwen’s three in leg seven, Superchin hit D6 with the last dart in hand to save himself the indignity of being the first player in Premier League history to be whitewashed twice.

However, that only prolonged the inevitable as MVG took out D16 in the next leg to seal the match and he is the only player to have a 100% record.

Gurney has a leg difference of minus eight and faces Welshman Gerwyn Price in Cardiff next week.
