Graeme McDowell has ruled himself out of a place in the proposed 2027 LIV Golf relaunch
Graeme McDowell has joined the growing list of major champions leaving LIV Golf after ruling out a place in the proposed 2027 relaunch.
The Northern Irishman announced yesterday he had "decided not to pursue" LIV 2.0, bringing his four-year spell with the breakaway circuit to an end.

The 2010 US Open champion follows fellow major winners Jon Rahm and Louis Oosthuizen out of the league. Northern Ireland's Tom McKibbin also announced last week that he was leaving to return to the DP World Tour.
England's Tyrrell Hatton and Ian Poulter have also departed, leaving the proposed relaunch with only a handful of players committed so far.
McDowell, a former world number four and four-time Ryder Cup player, joined the lucrative Saudi-backed circuit when it launched in 2022.
An 11-time winner on the DP World Tour, his best LIV result came in June 2025 when he finished tied for second in Virginia.
"I've decided not to pursue LIV 2.0," said the 47-year-old.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity I've had over the last four years and want to thank everyone who has been part of that journey.
"I look forward to the next chapter in my career."
A return to the DP World Tour could be his next move. Earlier this year, McDowell said he had held "really positive" talks about rejoining next season and said he was "lucky to have that option".
The departures come amid uncertainty over LIV's future. Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund withdrew its backing in April after investing more than $5bn (£3.8bn), and the league filed for bankruptcy protection in the United States last month.
LIV has secured a possible $300m (£224m) in financing from BC Partners Credit as it attempts to move forward with 'LIV 2.0', which is due to launch next year.
