“There are so many positives for us and we take huge pride in our performances in the three games,” she told BBC Sport after the game.

“We’re disappointed to draw this match as we had opportunities to put them to bed but it’s been a successful series for us.”

Both sides failed to impose themselves in the first two quarters with chances at a premium.

Ireland though stepped things up in the third quarter as they pushed for an opener.

Sarah Hawkshaw prodded wide before Mullan was narrowly off target.

Visiting keeper keeper Maddie Hinch twice denied Upton from penalty corners before the midfielder made no mistake with 10 minutes left with her third goal in a row against Hinch after a goalbound shot struck Giselle Ansley’s foot.

But the Olympic champions grabbed a leveller six minutes later as Petter drove through before providing a clinical finish.
