After an evenly-contested first half, Pegasus dominated most of the possession after the restart but failed to convert eight of the nine penalty-corners they were awarded in the 70 minutes.

Cork broke the deadlock, slightly against the run of play in the 29th minute when Roisin Upton cracked in her side’s first set-piece of the game.

Pegasus, having been unable to convert six corners in the first-half, at last got their act together when Ruth Maguire scored from a neat variation six minutes after the break.

Pegasus had a great opportunity to win the game without recourse to penalties with three minutes left.

But after Alex Speers had stolen possession and passed to Suzanne Ferris, Vanessa Surgeoner was unable to get the final touch with the goal gaping. Harlequins were the more accomplished in the subsequent shoot-out, scoring three out of their four attempts with only Maguire able to convert for the Ulster side.

In the Ulster Premier League the top of the table clash between Lurgan and Ballymoney ended in a 1-1 draw.

The other two games that survived the weather on Saturday also ended all-square as Raphoe and North Down along with Lisnagarvey and Banbridge fought out 1-1 stalemates.
