Stephen Duncan and Laura Graham shine in Lisburn Half Marathon

Stephen Duncan and Laura Graham had convincing victories in the Coca Cola Lisburn Half Marathon which was held in pleasant conditions.

Duncan started quickly and was already two and a half minutes clear of Danny McLaughlin at half way with Newry Marathon winner Don Travers, Marc Jennings and Matthew Hewitt disputing 3rd.

The Omagh Harrier, runaway winner at Banbridge three weeks ago, was in total control and crossed the line in 72:22 absolutely on his own. Hewitt came through for 2nd just ahead of Jennings with McLaughlin, Travers and Mark Cornett following.

Laura Graham was equally dominant having only eight men ahead of her. She led Karen Alexander by a minute at half way before going on to win in 79:53 which was three minutes faster than she clocked last year.

Karen came 2nd with English based Shona Crombie-Hicks, Siobhan Brown, Amy Bulman and Diane Watson next.

Jack Agnew won the wheelchairs from defending champion Jim Corbett with Ted McKibbin taking the HWCH Section.

Chris Madden took the Mens 10K for the home City of Lisburn club finishing sixteen seconds in front of English based Adam Kirk-Smith, top junior Daniel Dawson, Andrew Annett and Eamon White.

Heather Foley ran strongly to take a smooth Womens 10K from Jodi Smith with Mari Troeng just snatching 3rd from Sinead Murtagh.

There were over 5000 athletes in action.
