Ulster Rugby: Dwayne Peel hopeful John Cooney will be fit to face Racing 92

The pair were injured in Ulster’s 24-10 victory over Leicester Tigers at Kingspan Stadium.
A statement issued by the club on Tuesday said: “John Cooney sustained an AC joint injury during the game and his fitness will be assessed throughout this week in advance of Saturday’s fixture versus Racing 92.

Hide Ad“Angus Curtis sustained a concussion in the same game and his recovery will be monitored by the medical team.”
Ulster assistant coach, Dwayne Peel later added, as the weekly media pre-match beifing, they remained hopeful Cooney would be “ok”
“He is working away with it, he’s not with the team at the minute, but hopefully he will be fine.”
Dave Shanahan would get the nod to start against Racing if the impressive Cooney was ruled out, with Johnny Stewart getting the chance to move up to the bench.
Ulster and Racing 92 both won their opening games in Pool Four, with the Province sitting top of the table on points difference.
