Kieran and Annie take to the road for NI tour

Husband and wife duo Kieran Goss and Annie Kinsella are taking to the road together next month to bring their debut album ‘Oh, The Starlings’ to fans across the country.

The pair will be kicking off the tour at the Riverside Theatre in Coleraine on March 5, before heading to Theatre at the Mill in Newtownabbey on March 6, the Burnavon in Cookstown on March 7. Downs Arts Centre Downpatrick on March 14, Balor Arts Centre in Ballybofey on March 15 and the Strule Arts Centre in Omagh on March 16.

Kieran has long been considered one of Ireland’s greatest songwriters. Together with singer and artist Annie Kinsella, who has joined him on stage on his recent tours, they have enchanted audiences with their live performances and won rave reviews.

“Kieran and I have been working together for many years,” explained Annie. “Back when we first met he hired me to do backing vocals in 1994 and we have been working together in a variety of forms ever since so the album is a natural evolution. About 10 years ago we talked about doing an album but I was diagnosed with cancer so we shelved it and have only got around to doing it now.”

The new offering, ‘Oh The Starlings’, is a beautiful, at times heart-wrenching work of art that sees the two singers blend their talents. “I had a few songs in my back pocket for a while that I knew I wanted to record,” continued Annie. “When we wrote the title track together, we knew it was the lynchpin of the album and it was the last piece to fall into place.”

The duo recorded the album in New York with eight time Grammy winning engineer Kevin Killen at the helm.

Looking forward to bringing their new material to fans across the country, Annie said: “Performing live is what we really live for.

“It’s like Christmas Day. So much of the music business can be drudgery but it is a wonderful thing to be able to tour. It’s my happy place.”

At the concerts, fans can expect to hear songs from the new album, as well as some treats from Kieran’s back catalogue. “It is not a heavy night,” explained Annie. “We do a lot of talking and explain how things came about, we are fans of letting people know what inspired the songs. It is a really nice way of connecting with the audience.”

Tickets for the shows are on sale now from respective theatre box offices. For further details visit www.kierangoss.com.
