Asda Foundation gives Kilkeel community group £1,000 boost for summer scheme
Asda’s charity, the Asda Foundation, has awarded a Kilkeel community group a £1,000 grant to boost its upcoming summer scheme for local children.

Newry Street Unite, which works to connect the community through social inclusion and promoting health and well-being, will host a three-week summer scheme in July and August.
Designed for four- to 11-year-olds, the scheme will provide daily snacks, a programme of fun learning activities and a welcoming, child-friendly space.
Lisa Cunningham, Community Champion at Asda Kilkeel, said: “This is a fantastic local group and I’m thrilled the Asda Foundation has been able to provide some support as we head towards the summer, when keeping children happy and active is such an important priority for families.
“We’re right at the heart of our community here in Kilkeel, and it’s great to build connections with groups like this, who do so much for people in the area.”
Ann Fitzpatrick from Newry Street Unite added: “This funding is incredibly welcome and will help us cover the basics from snacks to activity essentials.
“A huge thank you to Lisa and the Asda Foundation for supporting community projects like ours and investing in young people here in Kilkeel. We excited for what’s ahead this summer at Newry Street Unite Community Centre.”
