Asda Foundation Grant supports Omagh RDA sensory room project
Omagh RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) has received £1,000 from the Asda Foundation Young Futures Fund, which is designed to improve mental health and wellbeing for young people to help build better futures and support ‘Healthy Teen Minds’.
The Omagh based charity provides equine-assisted activities for up to 80 children and young people each week and has played a vital role in supporting the local community for 40 years and continues to grow its reach and impact across the west of Northern Ireland.

The new dedicated sensory space will provide a calm and therapeutic environment where participants can regulate before or after sessions, helping them to engage more in activities.
Asda Omagh Community Champion, Clodagh Devlin said:
“Supporting organisations like Omagh RDA is incredibly important to us. This funding will help create a space that allows children and young people to feel supported, listened to and ready to take part. It makes such a meaningful difference, and this is a truly well deserving charity with dedicated volunteers.”
Omagh RDA Committee Member Mary Leonard said:
“We are extremely grateful for the support from the Asda Foundation towards our sensory room project. This space will have a real impact to the children and young people that we support, many of whom experience anxiety and sensory challenges.
“Our services are entirely volunteer-led and support individuals in the community with a wide range of needs, including autism, learning disabilities, physical disabilities and emotional or behavioural challenges. Through structured horse-riding sessions, activities and social opportunities, we provide a safe and supportive environment that encourages inclusion, confidence, independence and wellbeing.
“Listening to our members and their needs is central to everything we do. This new space will help ensure they feel calm, supported and ready to fully engage, allowing every participant to get the most from their time at Omagh RDA.”
