Fiona McCarthy Workers Party Representative has welcomed the news that patients led campaign groups are going to take Legal Action against the Uk Government over the pharmaceutical deal with Trump that will cost lives and 25% more per year
Ms McCarthy said there was a huge out cry late last year when the government changed legislation in order to give in to Trumps blackmail over increasing the costs of drugs paid to large American pharmaceutical companies at a cost of over £3bn more per year, money that was needed within the Health Service to treat patients and deal with health inequalities.

Now Patient-Led campaign groups, Just Treatment, and Social Justice organisation, Global Justice Now, have written to the UK Government setting out why the believe the government has acted unlawfully in pushing through changes to the NHS drug price controls frameworks, in the first stage of a legal challenge to the US-UK trade deal on pharmaceuticals.
Ms McCarthy said that experts say this deal could cost the lives of over 300,000 National Health Service patients. The Workers Party opposed this deal when it was first agreed on the grounds that it would benefit no one in the Uk but would place a major financial burden on the NHS and cost lives. We wish the campaign groups well in the legal action and salute their courage in making this challenge.
