Markethill set for marching band tattoo
Markethill is preparing to put its best foot forward next week as the town is set to stage a Marching Band Tattoo.

Hosted by Markethill Primary School, the event will take place on Thursday May 21 from 6.30pm at the MUGA pitch on the Mowhan Road with proceeds going to school funds.
The Tattoo was launched recently by past pupil, Emma Little-Pengelly, Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland during a visit to Markethill Primary School.
The eagerly anticipated event will see County Armagh Accordion Band, Markethill Pipe Band, and the Boys Brigade Band display their skills for spectators.
In addition to the marching bands, there will be performances from Tie-The-Note Band and the Kilted Dance Company.
The pupils from Markethill Primary School will also be taking part. The school will be showcasing their senior choir and a specially formed boys’ sports choir, The Sweet Carolines. The school band, which comprises pupils and staff, will also be performing and there will be a Drum Major display.
It’s the first time the school has hosted such an event since the new sports pitch was installed and principal, Dr Helen McLernon hopes it won’t be the last.
She said: There is a wonderful connection between our school and the local community with our playground successfully serving as a resource for the young people of Markethill outside school hours.
“We want to deepen those connections and following a suggestion from Mr Kenny Qua, we felt our MUGA pitch was the perfect arena to host a Marching Band Tattoo.
“As a school we want to thank everyone who has worked so hard to organise the Tattoo, your support is truly appreciated.
“There has already been great interest in tickets, so we are expecting a very successful evening.
“Many of those taking part will be past pupils of the school and we are looking forward to seeing them once again and enjoying their musical talents.”
