BBC Radio Ulster host joins Asda Bangor for fundraising boost

BBC Radio Ulster’s Connor Phillips paid a visit to Asda Bangor to help kickstart this year’s BBC Children in Need fundraising efforts.
The presenter posed for pictures with Community Champion at the store, Ami Craig, while the pair discussed Asda’s 25-year partnership with the charity.
Ami said: “We had a great chat about the work Asda’s done with BBC Children in Need over the years, raising an incredible £38m and supporting more than 350,000 children and young people across the UK in that time.
“I told Connor how fundraising with Pudsey brings lots of fun and laughter to the store every year, and helps boost colleague morale as we brace ourselves for the busy weeks ahead in the run-up to Christmas.
“But more important than any of that is the difference we know we’re making to children and young people in desperate need of support. That’s something we can all get behind.”
Asda Bangor raised more than £1,100 for BBC Children in Need last year, and the team hopes to beat that target with their 2025 campaign.
Ami added: “In the first part of November, we’d already raised more than £800, and we’re working our socks off to beat our total from last year.
"We’ll be visiting local primary schools with Pudsey this week, and on Friday, Pudsey will be right there with us as we carry out an epic Conga in the store at 1pm. Please pop by and join in if you can!”
BBC Children in Need funds thousands of projects and charities across the UK that support children and young people facing challenges caused by mental health, poverty, social inequality and family-related issues. Every pound raised helps to make a real difference in their lives.
Fundraising will take place at Asda stores across the UK throughout the week, with the total amount raised revealed live on air during the BBC Children in Need telethon on Friday.
